General Information:
At 70°F, Blade Pro Epoxy Adhesive develops excellent properties within 12 hours. Machining can be done when Blade Pro Epoxy Adhesive has cured for 12-14 hours. Cooler temperatures slow the rate of cure and should be taken into consideration before machining.
Substrate Preparation:
Using a paper towel wet out with either acetone or lacquer thinner, thoroughly wipe the tang and handle material. Once dry, sand the surfaces with 80-100 grit sandpaper. Wipe again with solvent before applying Blade Pro.
Coverage:
See Product Usage Estimations ChartMeasuring And Mixing:
Mix 1 part Resin (Part A) with 1 part Hardener (Part B) by volume. Mix the components thoroughly.
The pot life of Blade Pro Epoxy Adhesive is dictated by the batch size and ambient temperature. Small batches have a longer pot life than larger batches. The pot life can be lengthened by spreading out the mixed epoxy on a flat surface.
Application:
Apply a thin coat of Blade Pro Epoxy Adhesive to both surfaces to ensure proper coverage. When clamping, avoid too much pressure, as this can starve the joint of glue, resulting in poor bond strength. Use only enough clamp pressure to close the joint.
Tips And Tricks:
After clamping up the handle material, wipe off the excess glue with a paper towel wet out with acetone. Avoid using too much acetone when cleaning the surfaces. Doing so can weaken the bond near the edge of the handle material. Allow the Blade Pro Epoxy to set up for 2-3 hours and clean one more time using a q-tip wet out with acetone. This process leaves a clean, professional appearance to your work.
Cleanup:
Use acetone or lacquer thinner to clean up tools and work surfaces. In the event of skin contact, use a citrus cleaner with pumice, white vinegar, or soap and water as an alternative to solvent.
